Elon Musk who recently acquired social media giant Twitter had been facing the heat for his decision to charge $8 a month for the verified users aka the blue tick accounts. There are a lot of popular people who announced to quit Twitter amid these decisions of Elon Musk but wrote, ‘Trash me all day, but it’ll cost $8.’
One celebrity from India, who is banned from Twitter is in full praise of Elon Musk’s decision to charge $8, not surprisingly. Kangana Ranaut was banned from the platform last year for her controversial comments. On her Instagram stories, she backed the decision of Elon Musk about Twitter and even gave away her two cents, which also mentions, ‘Any person who has an Adhaar card should be getting a blue tick on Twitter!
This surprised all, as where she is bringing up the Aadhar card link to Twitter, just like the government is asking to link everything to Aadhar.
Her Instagram story reads, ‘Also paying a certain amount to maintain a Twitter account will only help it build its integrity, there are no free lunches in this world, have you ever thought about all these platforms that you access freely and how do they sustain themselves? They don’t just sell data, they make you a part of them, influence you and then sell you (your voice, consciousness) every single minute of the day, and that’s why there is no free will in such platforms, so it’s not a bad idea to try to build a self-sustaining social media platform … it is easy to arm-twist a bankrupt company even if it intends to hold a high-value system sooner or later it will have a price tag.’
Speaking about authentic existence, Kangana Ranaut wrote, ‘I could never understand the idea of verification that some selected few get, as if others don’t have an authentic existence, for example, I will get verified but if my father wants a blue tick then 3-4 clowns will dismiss his very identity as if he is living some illegal life…everyone who has an Aadhaar card must get verified, simple as that.’
Kangana was permanently banned from Twitter for ‘repeated violation of Twitter rules.’ But it has to be seen if she gets her banned account back on life under the reign of Elon Musk, who also is under plans to bring many banned accounts back to life like Donald Trump’s.
