Published by

Three people were shot dead and two others were injured on the campus of the University of Virginia late Sunday.

The police reportedly are on a manhunt for a student Christopher Darnell Jones Jr and the University identified him as the suspect. It did not immediately identify the victims.

Students were warned to shelter in place or ‘RUN HIDE FIGHT’. Gunfire was initially reported at a parking garage in Culbreth Road, near the school’s drama building, at around 10:30 pm Sunday. The suspect was last seen wearing a burgundy jacket, blue jeans, and red shoes and he could be driving a black SUV. The officials warned that the suspect was still considered ‘armed and dangerous.’

‘As of this writing, I am heartbroken to report that the shooting has resulted in three fatalities; two additional victims were injured and are receiving medical care. We are working closely with the families of the victims, and we will share additional detail as soon as we are able. Our University Police Department has joined forces with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend the suspect. We will keep our community apprised of developments as the situation evolves,’ U-Va. President James E. Ryan wrote in a message to the community at about 4 a.m.
