Trump Ban: TikTok Sues U.S. Government

Published by

Short form video sharing app, TikTok has sued US President Donald Trump led US government. A few days back, Trump categorically said that he may also consider to impose a ban on TikTok like India but before taking an action, he signed an executive order banning transactions with two Chinese-owned social media apps, TikTok and WeChat, within the United States.

However, TikTok retorted against the Trump government decision and filed a lawsuit in the Federal District Court for the Central District of California. The lawsuit seeks to prevent the U.S. government from banning TikTok.

“We do not take suing the government lightly,” wrote TikTok in its daily blog post suing the US government. The blog added that TikTok has no choice rather than to take legal action.

Ever since the Corona virus outbreak, Trump is targeting China and after India’s ban on 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, Trump too wanted something like this. Accordingly on August 6th, he signed the executive order on TikTok.
