Coronavirus crisis continues to worsen in India what with 70,000 fresh cases and more than 1,000 deaths being registered on a daily basis. In the last 24 hours, as many as 948 patients succumbed to the infection taking the death toll to 63,498 as of Sunday, according to the Union ministry of health and family welfare.
The latest numbers have placed India in the third position in the list of nations with highest mortality rate due to Covid-19. Now, India has reached near Mexico which has recorded 63,000 Covid deaths.
Coming to the fresh cases, India has always been registering record number of cases. For the fourth consecutive day, more than 75,000 positive cases were recorded in the country.
On Saturday alone, 78,761 positive cases were registered taking the tally to 35,42,000. Of them, 27 lakh had already recovered and 7 lakh are active cases.
The Union ministry declared that an additional 64,000 patients recovered from the disease on Saturday. The recovery rate in the country has crossed 76 per cent while the death rate is continuing at 1.8 per cent.
The intensity of Coronavirus infection has been continuing unabated in the entire world. According to John Hopkins University report, the five countries where Coronavirus has affected the most are as follows America, Brazil, India, Mexico & Britain.
