A young 20 year old woman from Kasargod, Kerala died on Saturday after consuming Biryani she ordered online. On 31st of December 2022, Perumbala’s Anju Sreeparvathy ordered Kuzhimanthi Biryani from a local restaurant named Romansia.
The woman got sick soon after eating it and was taken to a hospital near by after which she was shifted to another hospital in Mangaluru, Karnataka where she allegedly died of food poisoning.
The parents of the deceased have lodged a complaint against the restaurant. The police said that further action would be taken after they receive the post-mortem report.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George ordered a probe in this issue and said that the license of the accused restaurants will be cancelled under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
This is second such case from Kerala in recent times as another woman, working as a nurse in Kottayam Medical College also died after consuming food she ordered online from a restaurant in Kozhikode.
Such events reflect the sorrow state of Food Industry and the carelessness exhibited by restaurant workers and owners. Immediate action from respective authorities is expected.
