A giant fraud of mass copying of the TOEFL online examination was busted. In a shocking update, the miscreants are said to be running this from a house in Hyderabad. More than 100 members are reportedly involved in this fraud. The police are conducting a search to identify the 100 or more students who recently passed the test through the fraud.
The cyber crime police arrested four from two gangs in Hyderabad. TOEFL is one of those mandatory examinations for studying abroad and these gangs in Hyderabad are charging aspiring students large sums of money and managing their scores through mass copying the online examination.
It is reported that some top ranker students started this all. They reportedly collected 20,000 rupees to 35,000 rupees from a student for a test and answer it for them. Police reportedly recovered more than one crore rupees from the accused. They have been running this fraud from a rented house in LB Nagar. The fraudsters arrange everything as per their plan so they won’t be seen in the mandatory camera view of the person taking the test.
The person writing the examination will send the questions on WhatsApp to the fraudsters and another team will work on the answers.
This fraud is not just happening in Hyderabad, but in many other places in India. Covid affected the TOEFL examination process which led to an online system for last two years.
