Ranbir Kapoor scored a big hit in 2018 with the Raj Kumar Hirani directorial Sanju. This is the biopic of popular Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. Now, it looks like he is prepping up for another biographical drama. If the latest buzz is anything to go by, Ranbir will be acting in the biopic of former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly.
It is already known that Ganguly’s biopic is currently under work. Reportedly, the script is locked and the other pre-production works are going on. Meanwhile, a source close to Ganguly confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor will play the lead role in this movie.
Apparently, Ranbir gave his nod to the film and will start preparing for it very soon. It is also heard that he visited Ganguly’s residence, Eden Gardens stadium and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)’s office when he was in Kolkata recently.
Meanwhile, Ranbir’s last unanimous hit was Sanju. Later, he came up with Shamshera and it was a disaster. Then, he came up with Brahmastra. Though it was promoted as a hit, the film was a financial loss venture in many areas.
His next release will be Tu Jhoothi Main Makaar, which hit the screens on March 8. He is also working on Animal under the direction of Sandeep Reddy Vanga. More than these two films, there will be heavy anticipation around Ganguly’s biopic due to his popularity. So, it is predicted that this biopic might become Ranbir’s career-highest grosser once it gets made. More details about the cast and crew of this project are expected to be announced soon.
