A 24-year-old police constable in Hyderabad, India, named Vishal died after collapsing in a gym while working out. The incident was captured on CCTV installed in the gym, and it shows Vishal performing push-ups, then moving to another area and appearing to cough while leaning forward. Vishal takes the support of a gym machine nearby, but his coughing becomes vigorous. Moments later, he sits on the ground and collapses. His gym mates rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
According to reports, Vishal died of a heart attack, which is becoming increasingly common among the younger population in India. One-fifth of all deaths in the country are caused by heart attacks, cardiac arrests, and strokes, including among young people, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
The incident highlights the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and undergoing regular medical check-ups. While heart attacks can make patients more vulnerable to sudden cardiac death by disrupting the electrical system of the heart, cardiac arrest can also be caused by other cardiovascular conditions.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a condition where a patient is stable with a stable heart function an hour before the terminal event (namely Cardiac Arrest). Compared to earlier, where SCA was common over 70 years of age, in recent times, it is more commonly witnessed in the people of a younger age group.
The incident has caused shock and grief among Vishal’s family, friends, and colleagues in the police department. It serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of taking care of one’s health and being vigilant about any signs or symptoms of cardiovascular issues.
