Mark Zuckerberg calls the year 2023 the ‘year of efficiency’ while the tech company is heading towards sending another 10,000 workers out.
Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram announced on Tuesday that the company planned to lay off another 10,000 employees, around 13 percent of its workforce.
In November, Meta laid off more than 11,0000 people, which was again 13 percent of its workforce by that time.
Meta claims to be restructuring its business and tech groups in April and May, and these layoffs are supposedly a part of it. The 5000 job postings that have yet to be filled, also will be closed, as said by Mark Zuckerberg in the memo.
“This will be tough and there’s no way around that,” he wrote. Last year, Meta had around 87,000 full-time employees. Meta cut down the employee perks last year. During an earnings call in February, the Chief executive said he did not want the company to be overstuffed with a layer of middle management.
