The Khalistan supporters pulled down the national flag at the Indian High Commission building in London and the videos of a huge mob attacking the Indian Consulate in San Fransisco in the USA emerged. The mob spray-painted ‘Free Amritpal’ on the wall of the building.
The attackers smashed the glass on the doors and windows of the consulate building and were also seen waving the Khalistan flags. They were unable to enter the building and were seen violently hitting the doors with wooden sticks and rods of the flags. One of the men could be seen smashing the windows with a sword.
India released a statement conveying strong protest against the US over the incident and asked for appropriate measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. The statement reads, ‘In a meeting with the US Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi, India conveyed its strong protest at the vandalization of the property of the Consulate General of India, San Francisco.
The US Government was reminded of its basic obligation to protect and secure diplomatic representation. It was asked to take appropriate measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
Our Embassy in Washington D.C. also conveyed our concerns to the US State Department along similar lines.’
In Australia also, Khalistan supporters gathered outside Australian Parliament to protest against the police’s hunt for Amritpal.
