Tornadoes swept through Mississippi and northern Alabama overnight killing at least 26 people. Several people were injured and the property was damaged on large scale.
The state’s emergency management agency said the tornadoes left a trail of damage for more than 100 miles. The buildings were left in piles of wreckage. Overnight rescues found at least 6 people missing in the devastation.
A Federal Emergency Management Agency team was on the way to Mississippi, and Gov. Tate Reeves (R) declared a state of emergency.
The Mississippi towns of Rolling Fork and Silver City were hit hard by the tornadoes.
