Valarmathi, the renowned scientist from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), known for her iconic countdown announcements during rocket launches at Sriharikota, has sadly passed away due to cardiac arrest. Her last recorded voiceover was during the launch of Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar mission, on July 14.
Chandrayaan-3 achieved a significant milestone for India as it successfully landed the Lander Module, which included the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover, on the lunar surface on August 23. This accomplishment marked India as the fourth country globally to achieve a lunar landing and the first to reach the uncharted south pole of the Moon.
Valarmathi’s remarkable contributions to ISRO’s rocket launches, especially her involvement in the historic Chandrayaan-3 mission, will forever be remembered as an integral part of India’s space exploration heritage.
