Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited US President Joe Biden to the 2024 Republic Day celebrations, according to a US envoy.
Modi is said to have extended the invitation during Joe Biden’s visit to India for the bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti revealed it to ANI.
Ahead of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, PM Modi and President Biden had held bilateral talks on September 8th.
US’ former president Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and former French presidents Nicholas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande have also been chief guests at the Republic Day celebrations in the past.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was the chief guest at the 2023 Republic Day celebrations.
