During the inauguration of a road in Maharashtra, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari conveyed his confidence in his service by stating that he won’t display any posters or offer inducements to voters for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections next year. Addressing a public gathering, he emphasized, “I have served you. Vote for me if you like, don’t if you do not want to.”
Speaking in Marathi at the event in Washim, Gadkari pledged not to bribe voters, denouncing corruption and committing to maintaining an ethical approach in the electoral process. He reiterated that he would refrain from using posters, offering bribes, or engaging in corrupt practices, encouraging a vote based on merit and service.
Currently holding the position of the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Gadkari represents the Nagpur constituency in the Lok Sabha.
In a recent statement, Gadkari highlighted the government’s efforts to eradicate potholes on national highways by the end of the year, mentioning a focus on the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model for road construction, which ensures better maintenance over the years. He stressed that this approach contributes to well-constructed roads and efficient maintenance, ultimately benefitting the public.
