In a shameful incident, three Telugu men were found guilty of kidnapping a woman in the UK. They were sentenced to ten years in jail.
Three Telugu men Ajay Doppalapudi (27), Vahar Manchala (24), and Rana Yellambai (30) approached the victim in the early hours of January 16 last year. The victim got into their car believing it was a taxi when realized that it was not when they drove along Narborough Road away from her house.
They drove her 15 miles and eventually stopped in a deserted area of Misterton and pulled her out of the car. The police said that after a while the victim was able to escape and run off to a nearby motorway.
Officers arrived in a short time and she was taken to a place of safety. The CCTV inquiries identified the car in Leicester city center and found that the owner was living at Gaul Street in the Westcotes area of Leicester. Officers visited the address and ll three men were arrested.
‘Without doubt, the three men involved in this case were predators. They were in the city center in the early hours that Sunday morning looking for a woman to take advantage of to fulfill their own sexual gratifications,’ Detective Constable Gemma Fox, the investigating officer, said after the sentencing.
Ajay Dopplapudu, Rana Yellambai, and Vahar Manchala were also charged with two counts of sexual assault on a female and two counts of sexual assault by penetration.
In June 2022, an Indian student in UK Preet Vikal, 20, carried a drunk semi-conscious woman back to his flat before raping her and sending a trophy photo of her sprawled on his bed to a friend.
