After a hard-fought ODI World Cup final against Australia, the Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, faced disappointment with a 6-wicket loss. In a heartening gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Indian dressing room to console and uplift the spirits of the Men in Blue.
Addressing the veteran opener Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma, Modi acknowledged the team’s exceptional journey in the tournament, saying, “Aap log pura 10-10 game jeet ke aaye ho, ye to hota rehta.”
Modi also advised the players not to be disheartened by the final result.
Encouraging Rohit Sharma to smile and reminding him that the entire nation was watching, PM Modi praised the team’s efforts. He also commended the hard work put in by Indian coach Rahul Dravid.
The highlight of the interaction was when PM Modi warmly hugged Indian pacer Mohammed Shami, recognizing his stellar performance as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 24 wickets.
The Prime Minister also shook hands with other team members, including vice-captain KL Rahul, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
The video is currently gaining a lot of recognition as netizens call it a ‘sweet gesture’ to boost the mental health of the players, which itself is a message to the nation that failures can happen but it’s important to move on with a smile on the face.
