With fantastic all-round performance, Kolkata Knight Riders managed to beat Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs in Dubai tonight. Bowlers like Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Varun Chakravarthy and Pat Cummins gave their best and ensured a victory for their team. Chasing a total of 175, RR crumbled pretty badly and ended up scoring only 137.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith decided to bowl. He didn’t get the start he wanted to, as KKR were pretty comfortable scoring the runs in the initial overs. Sunil Narine once again failed as an opener and got out in the power play. However, another opener Shubman Gill (47) played a classy knock and he got good support from Nitish Rana. When they were settled in the crease, Rana got out. After that, KKR lost wickets one by one until the 15th over. Finally, Eoin Morgan (34*) played a responsible knock and gave them a defendable total of 174/6.
Rajasthan got severe jolts while chasing this total. It is now proved how the team is heavily dependent on their top three batsmen. When Smith, Buttler and Samson failed, Rajasthan simply failed to get going. Every other batsman threw their wickets away and put KKR in a dominant position right in the first half of the second innings. At the end of 11 overs, Rajasthan were 67/6. It was Tom Curran (54*) who scored well in the game for RR. By the end of 20 overs, they managed to put 137/9 on the scoreboard. Rajasthan Royals will face Royal Challengers Bangalore and KKR will face Delhi Capitals on October 3.
