IPL 2020: RCB Gets an Easy Win Against RR

Published by

Royal Challengers Bangalore won their third match of the four games they played in this season. They have successfully beaten the Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets. Thanks to the brilliant knocks of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, RCB chased a total of 155 very comfortably. On the other side, their bowlers have also done well and managed to restrict Rajasthan for a modest total.

After winning the toss, Steve Smith chose to bat first. But RR got a disastrous start as their star batsmen Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Steve Smith went back to the pavilion in powerplay itself. Uthappa and Mahipal Lomror (47) tried to build the innings but the former was dismissed by Chahal (3/24) in the 11th over. However, Lomror managed to stay till the backend of the innings and scored 47 runs. He got good support from Riyan Parag. In the death overs, Rahul Tewatia (24*) slogged a bit and with his contribution, RR managed to score 154/6 in 20 overs. Chahal and Isuru Udana (2/41) shined on the bowling front of RCB.

Chasing this modest total, RCB got an early blow as Shreyas Gopal dismissed Aaron Finch in the third over. But they recovered soon as captain Virat Kohli (72*) and young Devdutt Padikkal (63) played extremely well and kept the scoreboard running. In the process, Padikkal also completed his third half-century of the four games he played.

Soon, even Kohli finished his 50 in style and came back to form. He made a partnership of 99 runs with Padikkal. The latter was finally dismissed by Jofra Archer in the 16th over. But by that time, RCB was in a comfortable position to win the match. They eventually made a score of 158/2 in 19.1 overs. RCB will next face Delhi Capitals on October 5. Rajasthan will face Mumbai Indians on October 6.
