A 35-year-old doctor, belonging to Kollam in Kerala, died by suicide. On September 23, he operated upon a 7-year-old girl and she died while undergoing the surgery.
Several allegations were levelled against the doctor on social media after the girl’s death. Disturbed by the smear campaign against him in the social media, the doctor wrote ‘sorry’ on the bathroom wall and died by suicide. He reportedly cut a nerve in his arm and later hanged himself to death.
It is being said that the girl died of heart attack while undergoing leg surgery. Her parents and relatives staged protests at the hospital alleging that error in administering anaesthesia led to the death.
Anoop Krishnan, an orthopaedic surgeon, runs Anoop Ortho Care Hospital. The police registered it as a suspicious case of death. Dr Anoop is survived by wife Dr Archana and son Aditya Krishna.
Speaking to the media about the case, a senior police officer said that they could understand that the doctor was completely upset after the girl died during the operation. We are yet to investigate into the threats and harassment the doctor faced following the death, he added.
