After three consecutive heartbreaking losses, Chennai Super Kings came back to the success track. They won against Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets in chasing a total of 179. Openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis have sealed the win for their team. Punjab bowlers were pretty clueless when these batsmen were hitting them all around the park.
Punjab’s captain KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bat first. He opened the innings with Mayank Agarwal and gave yet another stunning start to his team. Both of them made 61 runs for the first wicket. Finally, Piyush Chawla broke this partnership by dismissing Mayank. However, Rahul (63) got good support from Mandeep Singh and Nicholas Pooran (33). They have scored boundaries at regular intervals and had a good run rate. Rahul also scored yet another half-century in this edition. When Pooran and Rahul were looking dangerous, Shardul Thakur removed them in the 18th over. Finally, Maxwell and Sarfaraz Khan helped Punjab to reach a good total of 178/4 in 50 overs.
For the first time in this season, CSK got a good partnership from their openers. Both Watson (83) and du Plessis (87) are star players but they somehow failed to take their team to a victory in the previous three matches. Especially, Watson looked out of form in the last four matches. Finally, he came back to form and it is good to see him in this momentum. With a fantastic effort from these two batsmen, Chennai scored 181 runs in just 17.4 overs. CSK will next face KKR on October 7 and Punjab will take on SRH on October 8.
