The judicial custody of actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty has been extended. The special NDPS has extended the judicial remanded of Rhea and others till 20th October for further investigation. This isn’t the first time that Rhea’s judicial custody has been extended in the case. Rhea was first arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sep 9th following the drugs issue that broke out in the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
After her arrest, Rhea was sent to judicial custody till September 22nd. However, Rhea’s custody extended till October 6th. And while the custody was supposed to come to an end by today evening, it has now been extended again by 14 days. Meanwhile, Rhea and Showik had also moved Bombay High Court for their bail plea in the last week of September. Their bail plea was reserved by the Bombay High Court. Meanwhile, the High Court is going to pronounce its verdict on Rhea and Showik’s bail plea tomorrow.
While Rhea, Showik and others argue that this is related to Sushant’s death, the NCB opposed bail plea stating that the case is related to drug syndicate and the case is not related to Sushant’s death. The NCB’s Anil Singh said all the persons arrested in the case were interrelated and have “links” and “purchasing” of drugs.
