A 23-year-old young wedding photographer from Visakhapatnam was strangled to death by two men.
P Sai Vijay Pawankalyan was murdered violently for his professional pricey camera, worth Rs 15 lakh. Sai Vijay was strangled to death with a leather belt and later was buried on the banks of Godavari at Mulasthanam near Ravulapalem.
Sai Vijay received a request for a photography assignment from Shanmukha Teja, a 19-year-old from Ravulapalem in the Konaseema region. Shanmukha Teja picked him up in a car at Rajamahendravaram Railway Station. Teja and his accomplice murdered him for the camera on February 26 and they later buried the body and took away the camera equipment.
Sai Vijay Pawan Kalyan’s parents lodged a missing complaint on February 29 and police cracked the case on Sunday. They arrested Teja and his accomplice. Sai Vijay was a wedding photographer who used to take bookings online and visit remote places for assignments.
Shanmukha Teja confessed to committing the crime after the Police picked him up and questioned him based on call data.
The incident sent tremors across the photographer community and most of them are freelancing youngsters. They take up assignments and carry expensive equipment for the same. Police are suggesting the photographers be safe while taking up assignments.
