The abominable Hathras case of UP is handed over to the CBI to investigate. The CBI took over the case of alleged gang rape and murder of a 20-year-old Dalit woman in Hathras district, by ‘upper-caste’ men.
There was a nationwide outrage and protests when the victim died and was cremated by the police in midnight without allowing the family. Facing the harsh criticism and pressure from all sides, the UP government had to recommend the probe by the CBI. The main criticism also was due to the UP police’s way of handling the case by isolating the family from others by locking them up.
In the recent report, the UP police made shocking claims that the victim was never raped as they could not find any traces of semen as per the forensic report. The experts ridiculed them as the samples were taken after 11 days after the attack. There were also claims that the protests and criticism on Yogi Adityanath’s government and UP police were part of an ‘international conspiracy against Yogi.
Even the UP police, instead of filing the cases against the accused culprits, filed cases against the unknown people who allegedly tried to defame the government. Now, that the CBI has taken over the case from the police department, the probe progress is to be seen in weeks coming.
The 20-year-old Dalit girl allegedly was assaulted by four men on September 14 and she died due to severe injuries after two weeks of being treated.
