A mind-blowing knock from AB de Villiers and a combined effort from the bowlers helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to win against Kolkata Knight Riders by 82 runs. KKR was never in the chase as none of their batsmen rose up to the occasion. With this win, RCB climbed up to the third position on the points table with 10 points.
Upon winning the toss, Virat Kohli stated that RCB will bat first. He got a great start from his team’s openers Aaron Finch (47) and Devdutt Padikkal (32). They played some big hits right in the powerplay and kept the run rate going. Finally, Andre Russell dismissed Padikkal. In a few overs, even Finch got out. Then, Virat Kohli (33) and AB de Villiers (73) made sure no other wicket fell till the end of the innings. de Villiers played a smashing innings which was an absolute treat to watch. His brilliant knock helped RCB to score 194/2 in 20 overs.
Kolkata Knight Riders were never really in this chase as RCB managed to scalp the wickets of all their batsmen very soon. By the end of 12 overs, KKR already lost half of their side and made a score of 64. Only Shubman Gill (34) managed to score decent runs. Big man Russell failed once again with the bat and got out in the 14th over. Later, every batsman just came and went back. The lethargic innings finally ended after 20 overs and KKR managed to score 112/9. RCB will play against Kings XI Punjab on October 15 and KKR will take on Mumbai Indians on October 16.
