Controversial Ad: Tanishq Face criticism

Published by

As the festival season is approaching, many retail and jewellery brands have started their promotions and marketing to attract the consumers. So did Tata’s jewellery wing, Tanishq. They unveiled an ad that showcases a Hindu woman in Muslim family household.

However, ever since this ad started streaming, it invited a huge uproar from the Hindu groups. They lashed out at Tanishq for inflicting religious conflicts in their promotional campaign. As the outrage of Hindu groups reached Tanishq, it withdrew the ad and settled the issue.

The twist came here and once again Tanishq is on the receiving end for withdrawing the ad. Some opined that there is no conflict in the ad and wondered why Tanishq has taken it down.

Noted journalist Nidhi Razdan wrote, “Clearly women on twitter have far more spine in dealing with trolls than @TataCompanies @TanishqJewelry. You couldn’t take the heat for even a day and caved into the hate mob. As for the bigots, they can never defeat what India really stands for- plurality and diversity.”

Well the lady of the season Kangana too stepped into the scene. She found fault with the ad and added that it is wrong in many ways. “The concept wasn’t as much a problem as the execution was,the fearful Hindu girl apologetically expressing her gratitude to her in-laws for the acceptance of her faith, Isn’t she the woman of the house? Why is she at their mercy? Why so meek and timid in her own house? Shameful,” tweeted Kangana’s team.

Tata and Tanishq have seriously landed in a soup but they are maintaining utmost silence and did not even react or issue a press statement when the ad was removed.
