A private school in Hebbal, Bengaluru has included a chapter about spicy siren Tamannaah Bhatia in the textbooks for class 7 students.
The chapter is part of a lesson on the Sindhi community, as the school caters to a linguistic minority. However, this decision has sparked controversy among parents who have raised objections to the content.
Parents have filed complaints with the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka, expressing their concerns about the appropriateness of the chapter for 7th grade students. They argue that if children search for information about the actress online, they may come across unsuitable content.
The school management has been accused of threatening to issue transfer certificates to students whose parents raised objections. The Associated Managements of English Medium Schools in Karnataka (KAMS) has assured that they will take up the issue with the Primary Education Department and fight.
While parents have no issues with lessons on veteran actors from the Sindhi community, they believe that a chapter on Tamannaah Bhatia is inappropriate for 7th grade students. The school authorities have not yet commented on the matter.
