The Telugu YouTube community has been rocked by a major controversy after a popular creator, Praneeth Hanumantu, made highly inappropriate comments during a live session with his friends. The comments, which included sexual references and jokes about a video featuring a father and his young daughter, quickly went viral and sparked widespread outrage.
Clips from the live session were widely shared on social media, leading to an avalanche of condemnation from viewers. Many expressed their disgust at the YouTubers’ behaviour, with some users questioning their morality and urging authorities to take legal action. And some highlighted how sons of IAS officers, with the YouTuber’s father being an IAS officer in Telugu states, are behaving worse. The controversy has now drawn the attention of several Telugu celebrities, who have joined the chorus of criticism against the YouTuber.
Actor Sai Dharam Tej, took to social media to express his outrage. “To whom so ever it may concern, my kind request to all parents is to please use some sort of discretion when you post a video or photos of your kids as the world of social media has become ruthless and dangerous and is very difficult to control or stop these animals from becoming violent and dangerous so kindly please be cautious, aware and take proper care before posting pictures or videos of your children, and to those people who have stooped to such a low standard, I hope that you never get to see the turmoil of a parent in regards to your comments.”
In response to the backlash, Praneeth Hanumantu issued an apology, acknowledging the problematic nature of his comments and expressing deep remorse for his lack of judgment. However, netizens are not in a mood to stop and this also serves as a wake-up call for the Telugu YouTube community who are relying on toxicity and filth to grab attention.
