In a major crackdown on drug abuse, the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) raided the Cave Club, a pub in Manikonda, Hyderabad, on Saturday night.
The operation uncovered large-scale drug use at the place. Of the 55 individuals present at the time of the raid, 24 tested positive for narcotic substances, including ganja, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Here’s more of the incident.
Two days before the raid, the TGANB had arrested a drug peddler named Suresh Singh alias Tinku Singh, who was selling ganja to medical students in Koti.
The pub, known as the “Cave Club,” had allegedly been hosting a “psychedelic party” with a cover charge of ₹3000 per person. The raid revealed that the party was attended by IT professionals, students, and others. The Manikonda Drugs Case highlights the growing concern over drug abuse in the city’s pubs and clubs, regarding which CM Revanth Reddy also expressed his concern recently.
Whenever Hyderabad Drugs Case comes up, usually the names of cinema celebrities pop up. But this time, it’s quite surprising even for the officials to see lots of students and IT employees surfacing as drug addicts. Right now authorities are said to be planning to conduct secret raids at other pubs as well in Hyderabad, to decimate the drug network of the city completely.
