Pharma major Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has isolated all its data centre services across the world after it detected a cyber attack.

Apart from Dr Reddy’s plant in the country, the other plants that have been shut include those at Brazil, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The breach is reported to have taken place early (India time) on Thursday.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories had recently received approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to conduct an adaptive Phase-2 and Phase-3 clinical trials in India for Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine candidate against
Covid-19.

In September, Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, announced that it had inked a deal with Dr Reddy’s for the trial and distribution of their vaccine candidate in India. Upon regulatory approvals in India, RDIF shall supply 100 million doses of the vaccine to Dr Reddy’s.

Commenting on the cyber attack, Mukesh Rathi, CIO, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories said, “We are anticipating all services to be up within 24 hours and we do not foresee any major impact on our operations due to this incident.”

However, the share price of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories fell by 3% following reports of data breach. The stock was trading 1.19 per cent lower at Rs 4,986.90 on the BSE at 10: 55 am.
