Sunrisers Hyderabad played a disastrous game last night against Kings XI Punjab and recorded a 12-run defeat. They failed to chase a total of 126 and got all-out for 114. They were 57/0 at one point and 100/3 in 17 overs. Losing 7 wickets in a gap of 14 runs is a huge crime in T20 cricket. Apart from these worst figures, SRH also made some forgettable records in this game.
- 127 is the lowest total that Sunrisers failed to chase in their IPL history. The previous lowest target they failed to chase is 137. It was against Mumbai Indians where SRH lost the match by 40 runs.
- The total runs aggregated by bottom-six batsmen of SRH is 8. This is the second-lowest runs made by any team’s bottom-six batsmen.
- Manish Pandey’s strike rate of 51.72 is the joint second-lowest strike rate of a batsman scoring a total of 15+ runs. He scored 15 runs in 29 balls last night. He scored the exact same runs in the exact same balls for Pune Warriors India in 2013 against SRH. The lowest strike rate is by Dinesh Karthik, who made 17 runs off 35 balls in 2010 when he was playing for Delhi Daredevils.
With this loss, Sunrisers have very bleak chances of reaching the playoffs. They have to win the rest of the three games and pray that the other results come in their way.
