Rajasthan Royals in one team which produced some great chases in IPL in the past. They have pulled off a similar feat about a while ago in Abu Dhabi. With the help of a 152 runs partnership from Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson, RR pulled of an 8-wicket win against Mumbai Indians. Stokes scored an incredible century in this game while Samson gave him nice support by scoring a half-century.
Mumbai’s skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and elected to bat first. Even after losing the wicket of de Kock pretty early, their innings was settled by Ishan Kishan (37) and Surya Kumar Yadav (40). They made a big partnership of 83 runs. When they were looking dangerous, RR took their wickets in quick succession. Soon, Pollard also got out. When it looked like RR is getting back into the game, Saurabh Tiwary (34) and Hardik Pandya (60*) snatched it by making a partnership of 64 runs. Mumbai scored 27 runs off the last over and got a huge total of 195/5 in 20 overs.
Rajasthan lost two important wickets in the powerplay while chasing this total. Robin Uthappa and Steve Smith fell inside six overs and have put RR in trouble. After that, Ben Stokes (107) and Sanju Samson (54) took the responsibility of doing the job for RR. They played an aggressive game right from the beginning and smacked Mumbai’s bowlers all over the park.
In the process, the former completed his century as well. Samson gave Stokes good support and scored his half-century. They made an unbeaten partnership of 152 runs and chased the target of 196 in just 18.2 overs. Mumbai Indians will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore on October 28 and RR will take on Kings XI Punjab on October 30.
