Twitter Blocking Changing Soon – What’s New?

One of the main social media platforms X, formerly Twitter, will soon change its ‘blocking’ feature.

Elon Musk confirmed the feature change and according to the new functionality, it allows the users who have been blocked to view the public posts of their blockers while still preventing them from engaging with the content. The users cannot like, reply, or repost the blockers’ posts.

Along with that, the users who block an account will not see any attempts at engagement from the blocked account.

While Google Play and the Apple App Store have strict guidelines about blocking features that allow users to prevent unwanted interactions, it remains to be seen if the new feature from X will meet these requirements.

Elon Musk justifies the new block feature saying, High time this happened. The block function will block that account from engaging with, but not block seeing, public posts.’ However, many users are Twitter opine that the new blocking feature doesn’t exactly mean ‘blocking’ and is more like muting.
