Class X student Allegedly Gangraped by five Men

A Class X student of a prominent school in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, was reportedly gangraped by five men, including three from Maharashtra, at a hotel in Delhi.

All the five culprits were arrested on Thursday.

The girl’s father lodged a complaint stating that his daughter has been missing after leaving school on October 4. Police swung into action and found the teenager in Delhi five days ago.

Police said that the girl boarded a train to Delhi from Haldwani on October 4. Her phone helped the police track her movements and she was brought back to her native place five days ago and then handed over to her family.

When police began counselling h er, she told them that she was gangraped by five men at a hotel in Delhi. She also said that three of them were from Maharashtra and that they had met her on the train she boarded.

Basing on the victim’s statement, the police reached the hotel and identified the accused by examining CCTV footage and copies of the IDs provided by the hotel staff.

The arrested included Sandesh Chiplakar, 25, Roshan Patil, 29, and Yogesh Naik, 34, — all from Raigarh in Maharashtra.

The other two were identified as Ashish Agarkar, 30 and Sahil Kumar, 24, from New Delhi.

Haldwani CI Nitin Lohani said that medical tests on the girl confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. A case under BNS Section 70 and Pocso Act was registered against the five men.

All of them had been sent to jail.
