RR Fails To Do Well In Must-Win Game

Published by

In the first game tonight, Chennai Super Kings made Kings XI Punjab end their IPL 2020 journey and in the second game, Kolkata Knight Riders have ended the campaign of Rajasthan Royals. The men in purple have beaten the men in pink by 60 runs to attain a massive victory and stay alive in the playoff race. The lack of effort from RR’s top-order batsmen has affected them in this game.

RR’s skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first. He got a good start as Jofra Archer dismissed Nitish Rana right in the first over. But then, Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi played carefully and made sure to stay in the crease. They made a crucial partnership of 72 runs for the second wicket. After that, Rajasthan came back strong and got the wickets of Tripathi, Narine, Gill and Dinesh Karthik. When KKR was in trouble, captain Eoin Morgan played an attacking inning. He got a good stand from Andre Russell and Pat Cummins. With their help, KKR scored a high total of 191/7 in 20 overs.

Rajasthan got a disastrous start in chasing this total. Pat Cummins has destroyed the top-order of KKR. He scalped the wickets of Uthappa, Stokes, Smith and Parag and caused huge damage for Rajasthan. At one point, RR’s score was 37/5. After that, Jos Buttler and Rahul Tewatia tried to save RR but the target was too much for them. When they fell, the loss of RR was certain. By the end of 20 overs, they have managed to score 131/9. With this win, KKR climbed on to the fourth position. They are now hoping for Sunrisers Hyderabad’s loss against Mumbai Indians inorder to qualify for the playoffs.
