Governor Says Bharadwaj Conceptualized Aircraft Before Wright Brothers

Published by

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has claimed that Vedic-era sage Bharadwaj conceptualized the idea of an aircraft. The credit for the invention went to the Wright Brothers but in fact, the idea comes from Vedas, she said.

She was addressing the ninth convocation of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University in Lucknow.

She urged the students to study ancient Vedic texts and Upanishads to gain knowledge and appreciate the magnanimous discoveries and research made by their ancestors in India.

The UP Governor also described Kumbhakaran, the giant brother of demon king Ravana, as a ‘technocrat’ who spent six months making machines secretly but not sleeping, as is believed and told by our forefathers.

In a statement issued by the Raj Bhavan, Patel said that the sages and scholars of ancient India made remarkable innovations and discoveries that are benefiting the world even today.

Orville and Wilbur Wright, together known as the Wright Brothers, are credited with flying the first self-propelled aircraft on December 17, 1903, in North Carolina, US.

In 2015, a research paper present at the 102nd Indian Science Congress claimed that Shivkar Bapuji Talpade had flown a flying machine over Chowpatty in 1895 itself.

The Governor highlighted the substantial funds allocated for education in the current budget under PM Narendra Modi’s rule and urged the universities to undertake projects in this direction.
