Honor Killing Claims Life of Female Constable in Telangana

For a while now, Telangana has been free from the heinous honor killing incidents after the infamous Miryalaguda incident a few years ago. However, the heinous crime has made a comeback again and it has claimed the life of a female constable in Telangana and here’s a look into this heartbreaking story.

Reportedly, a female constable named Nagamani was brutally mauled and hacked to death by her own brother, named Paramesh. This incident happened in the Ibrahimpatnam jurisdiction of Rangareddy district on Monday.

Coming to the series of events, Nagamani, who is posted at Hayanthnagar Police Station was on her way to the station today. This was when her brother rammed her with a car and when she was on the ground, he slashed her with a machete and the fatal injuries claimed her life on the spot.

The motive behind the incident is said to be that the victim’s brother is enraged by her inter-caste marriage to a guy named Srikanth. The marriage happened on November 1 at Yadagirigutta and it was disapproved by the female’s family members. Enraged by the inter-caste marriage, the brother hacked Nagamani to death today.

While police are meant to safeguard the public from such activities, the fact that a female constable herself fell prey to a honor killing has sent shock waves. The police have filed the case and investigation is underway.
