After a rollercoaster ride in the league stage, finally, Sunrisers Hyderabad has reached the playoffs. They have become the last team to qualify into the playoffs. With a massive 10-wicket win against Mumbai Indians tonight, Sunrisers secured the third spot on the points table. They will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator. Meanwhile, table-toppers Mumbai Indians will play with Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1.
SRH’s skipper David Warner won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sandeep Sharma gave a stunning start to his team by taking the wickets of Mumbai openers Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock inside the powerplay. Later, Surya Kumar Yadav (36) and Ishan Kishan (33) tried to settle the scoreboard. But SRH bowlers contained them most of the time by not allowing to play big shots. Kieron Pollard (41) played good knock during the death overs and helped Mumbai in scoring a total of 149/8 in 20 overs. Sandeep Sharma got three wickets (3/34) in the match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad openers David Warner (85) and Wriddhiman Saha (58) played aggressively right from the beginning. Their intention was to give a great start to the team and they have ended up finishing the match as well. Their 151 runs unbeaten partnership helped SRH in chasing the target in just 17.1 overs. MI’s bowling attack looked pale in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. By winning this match, SRH finished off their league campaign in style.
