X CEO Elon Musk has officially declared that hashtags are not necessary while posting on the microblogging platform. The hashtags are downright unattractive, he said.
Responding to a Grok AI chatbot reply (which roasted hashtags with brutal sarcasm) to the question if hashtags are still relevant, Musk chimed in with his trademark bluntness: “Please stop using hashtags. The system doesn’t need them anymore and they look ugly.”
This response is significant amid debate that the hashtags have lost their relevance on X, even while they once acted as mighty tools of digital discovery.
The hashtags which were originally created to help users find trending topics and engage with specific conversations, are now being mocked as outdated relics of a bygone internet era.
He is likely to have engineered a new way to study the algorithm of the posts on X.
The Grok AI response clearly says using hashtags is like a desperate cry into the void of the internet.
The algorithm doesn’t really need hashtags to work. The hashtags have become less functional and more cosmetic.
