Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India, had three daughters: Upinder, Daman, and Amrit. Each of them has built a successful career in different fields.
Upinder Singh, the eldest, is a well-known historian and Dean at Ashoka University. She has written books on Indian history and was awarded the Infosys Prize for Social Sciences in 2009. Upinder is married to Vijay Tankha, an expert in Ancient Greek philosophy.
Daman Singh, the second daughter, is a writer and author of several books, including a biography of her parents called Strictly Personal. She has also written about social issues like forest conservation in Mizoram. Daman is married to Ashok Patnaik, an IPS officer and former CEO of NATGRID (National Intelligence Grid).
Amrit Singh, the youngest, is a human rights lawyer based in the United States. She teaches law at Stanford University and has worked with the Open Society Justice Initiative to promote human rights worldwide. Amrit has studied at top universities like Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge.
Manmohan Singh, who was Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, played a key role in India’s economic reforms. He is remembered for his calm leadership and efforts to modernize India’s economy.
Manmohan Singh was cremated at Delhi’s Nigam Bodh ghat on Saturday, in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other dignitaries.
