‘This Doesn’t Seem Like A Suicide’ – Elon Musk On Suchir Balaji’s Death

Suchir Balaji, a 26-year-old ex-OpenAI employee and whistleblower was found dead in San Francisco. The medical examiner’s office confirmed he died by suicide. Suchir earlier accused OpenAI of copyright violations related to ChatGPT.

Suchir Balaji’s mother Poornima Rao alleges it is a ‘cold-blooded murder’ and she has called for an FBI investigation, arguing that evidence from a private autopsy suggests that the death initially ruled a suicide. Tesla boss, Elon Musk supported Poornima’s claims in a reply to her Tweets on X.

“Update on @suchirbalaji, We hired a private investigator and did a second autopsy to throw light on the cause of death. A private autopsy doesn’t confirm the cause of death stated by police. Suchir’s apartment was ransacked, sign of struggle in the bathroom, and looks like someone hit him in the bathroom based on blood spots. It’s a cold-blooded mudr declared by authorities as suicide. Lobbying in SF City doesn’t stop us from getting justice. We demand FBI investigation,” said Poornima Rao in a post on X.

Elon Musk replied to her tweet with ‘This doesn’t seem like a suicide’.

OpenAI is facing lawsuits from authors, computer programmers, and journalists, who said the company illegally stole their copyrighted material to train its program and elevate its value past USD 150 billion.
