American President-elect Donald J Trump had a great closing to 2024 as he got re-elected as the president in this year’s election. However, the final few days of the year did not go his was as he was ordered by a Federal Appeals court to pay $5M in a sexual assault case.
The mentioned federal appeals court in Manhattan, on Monday, upheld a $5 million verdict that Jean Carroll won against Trump when a jury found he was liable for sexually abusing and later defaming the former magazine writer.
While Trump argued that the verdict was largely excessive and refuted the allegations that were levelled against him, the appeals court upheld the earlier judgment. He is now ordered to pay $5M to the victim after he was found liable of sexually assaulting her.
The original complaint from Carroll is that Trump sexually assaulted her back in late 1995 or early 1996. The trial began in April, 2023 and the verdict has been upheld now. Trump denied the allegations and claimed Carroll is “not his type” but he was found liable for the charges. He will now have to shell out the money.
