In a bid to transform its previous image and project itself as a brand honoring safe experience for families, students, businesses and solo travelers, trave booking major OYO has launched a new check-in policy for partner hotels.
Accordingly, unmarried couple will no longer be entertained by their partner hotels and this change would be initiated from Meerut, effective from this new year.
Under the revised policy, it will be mandatory for all couples to present valid proof of their relationship at the time of check-in, including those bookings made online.
OYO also empowered its partner hotels to discern and take a decision on their own about which couples should be allowed to enter their property, aligning with local social sensibility.
OYO has issued the directive to its partner hotels in Meerut to implement the new policy with immediate effect.
The company would expand the policy to other cities basing on the feedback from Meerut .
The change in Meerut was planned after several civil society groups urged OYO in the past to address the issue.
People in other cities also appealed to OYO to prevent unmarried couples from using their partner hotels.
Speaking about the change i policy, Pawas Sharma, Region Head, OYO North India, said that their company is committed to upholding safe and responsible hospitality services. “We respect individual freedom but at the same time, recognize our responsibility to work with the law enforcement and civil society groups in the micro markets we operate in.”
The programme aims to encourage longer stays and repeat bookings, improving customer trust and loyalty.
