A small plane crashed in Northeast Philadelphia just 30 seconds after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport on Friday.
The single-engine Cessna 172 flight data showed that plane disappeared from radar shortly agter reaching an altitude of 1600 feet. Unexpected wind and heavy fog are believed to have caused the crash.
Six people were reportedly aboard and the flight was believed to be a medical transport flight heading to Springfiled, Missouri. The reports say that there were two doctors, two pilots, a patient and a family member of he patient in the flight.
The plance crashed with a large explosion less than 3 miles from the airport, near Roosevelt Mall. Roads are cloased in the area. Several people were reportedly injured on ground due to the crash. Casualities are unknown at this time.
