The world’s richest person and renowned businessman, Elon Musk, planned to buy ChatGPT’s parent company, Open AI, by offering $97 million. However, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman declined the offer by saying “no thank you”.
According to the sources, Elon Musk and his investment group have approached OpenAI and expressed interest in acquiring the company and returning it to its nonprofit roots.
However, Sam Altman rejected the offer and wrote on X, “No thank you but we will buy Twitter for $9.74 billion if you want.” Responding to the same, Elon Musk commented, “Swindler”. For unversed, Elon Musk bought Twitter from Jack and renamed it X a couple of years ago.
This is not the first time Musk has offered to buy OpenAI. He did it once in July 2024, When He also criticized the Company’s shift from a non-profit to a more commercialized, profit-driven structure. In August 2024, Musk also filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing it of developing artificial general intelligence technology to maximize profits and alleged that the company was engaging in racketeering.
