The religiously auspicious Maha Kumbh Mela, which started on 13 January this year went on till 26 February. The final leg of the Maha Kumbh Mela, which includes the planetary alignment is going to happen on 28 February, but technically speaking the Maha Kumbh has officially drawn to a close today.
The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has tweeted about the same a short while back and he confirmed that world record attendance was observed at the Maha Kumbh Mela this year.
In the Maha Kumbh-2025, starting from 13 January, Paush Purnima, till today 26 February, Mahashivratri, in Prayagraj, in a total of 45 days, more than 66 crore 21 lakh devotees have received the holy benefit of bathing in the holy Triveni. According to the number published by Yogi Adityanath world record 66 crore people visited Prayagraj this year to take part in the Maha Kumbh Mela. This essentially means that nearly half of India’s population took apart in this sacred Hindu procession this year.
