In match 3 of the current edition of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings registered a victory against Mumbai Indians. Chennai Super Kings won their first game by 4 wickets.

Toss:CSK won the toss and elected to bowl first.

First Innings:

As CSK expected, they successfully took quick wickets at the start of the game. Khaleed Ahmed, playing for CSK for the first time, put his aggressive game forward by restricting Mumbai Indians from putting a big number on the board. He took three wickets by giving away 29 runs. Later, Noor Ahmed took four wickets and ensured Mumbai Indians were restricted to 155 runs. Rohit Sharma departed for a duck while every other batter struggled at the crease. Tilak Varma is the only one who crossed 30 runs.

Second Innings:

CSK’s batting order looked strong from the beginning. Although Rachin Ravindra entered the crease as the opener, he let the others perform by rotating the strike. However, in the end, he increased the pace at which he scored the runs after crossing the half-century mark. Captain Ruthuraj Gaikwad played a good innings of 53 runs off 26 deliveries. The rest of the batsmen ensured Ruthuraj and Rachin got the strike. After Gaikwad departed, the innings were slow, and MI appeared to crawl up to the winning side. But Rachin and Jadeja ensured to place CSK on the winning side. The icing on the cake is the entry of MS Dhoni to the middle but Rachin Ravindra finished the game in style.

In a Nutshell:

Chennai Super Kings looks fit, but they are struggling a bit on the bowling side. The team’s batters are in form. They need to figure out how they can build strong partnerships. On the other side, Mumbai Indians are struggling. The form of all the key batters is worrisome. Especially, Rohit Sharma departed for a duck. The other star batsmen also struggled to face the young bowlers of CSK. They must up their confidence for their game to be on the winning side, at least in the next game. Telugu players Tilak Verma and Satyanarayana Raju failed to make a mark. The absence of players like Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah also costed them the game.

Scorecard:MI: 155/9 | Tilak Varma 31 (25)Khaleel Ahmed: 29/3 (4) ; Noor Ahmed 18/4 (4)

CSK: (20) | Rachin Ravindra 65 (45)*, Ruthuraj Gaikwad 53 (26)Vignesh Puthur: 32/3 (4) ; Deepak Chahar 18/1 (4)
