A disturbing incident took place on an Air India flight from Delhi to Bangkok on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. One passenger reportedly urinated on a fellow passenger during the journey. Air India has informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) about the situation.
Reacting to the incident, Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu said that the ministry is taking the matter seriously. He assured that necessary action will be taken after speaking with the airline and verifying the details.
Air India released an official statement regarding the event that occurred on flight AI2336. According to the airline, the cabin crew was informed about the inappropriate behavior by a passenger. As per protocol, the matter was reported to the concerned authorities. The passenger responsible was warned, and the affected passenger was advised to file a complaint with authorities in Bangkok.
However, reports suggest that the crew’s assistance during the situation was not up to the mark. Air India mentioned that if any further action is required, an independent committee will be formed to look into the case. The airline also confirmed that it followed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) outlined by DGCA.
Interestingly, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred on an Air India flight. Around three years ago, a similar case made headlines. On a flight from New York to Delhi (AI-102), a business-class passenger named Shankar Mishra, under the influence of alcohol, urinated on an elderly woman.
That incident came to light only after the woman filed a complaint weeks later. The matter escalated quickly, leading to Shankar Mishra’s arrest in January 2023. Air India faced strong criticism for mishandling the situation and was later fined by the DGCA for its negligence.
These recurring events have raised serious questions about passenger behavior and the responsibility of airlines in handling such unacceptable conduct onboard.
