Billionaire business magnate Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita have become grandparents for the first time on Thursday after their son Akash and Sloka gave birth to a baby boy in Mumbai. A spokesperson of the Ambani family said: “Nita and Mukesh Ambani are delighted to become grandparents as they welcomed the great grandson of Dhirubhai and Kokilaben Ambani.”
“Both mother and son are doing well. The new arrival has brought immense joy to the entire Mehta and Ambani families,” the statement added.
Akash is the director and head of strategy and a member of the executive committee at Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited.
He, along with his sibling Isha, was instrumental in sealing the telecom firm’s partnership deals with various global giants. The Ambani scion is also involved with IPL team Mumbai Indians as well as the football tournament Indian Super League.
Since her marriage to Akash, Shloka Mehta, daughter of diamantaires Russell and Mona Mehta, won much appreciation for her philanthropic work.
Shloka is the co-founder of ConnectFor that helps volunteers seeking to help in different fields with their innovations to reach out to NGOs. Since 2014, she has been serving her father’s firm as the director too. Akash and Shloka got married in March 2019.
