India Sets Record In Vaccine Distribution

The Union health ministry said that India had supplied vaccine to its people at a record level. On the first day of distribution of vaccine, around 2,07,229 people received it and this number is more than that given on a single day in UK, France and America, said Manohar Agnani, additional secretary of Ministry of Health department.

On the second day, over 17,072 received the Covid jab taking the total number of those administered vaccine to 2,24,301.

Further, the officials said that the vaccine had shown side effects on 447 people. The side effects included fever, head ache and fatigue. Three of them needed to be hospitalised and provided treatment.

The officials are monitoring the health condition of all those who were given the vaccine. On the second day, being Sunday, vaccination drive was carried out only in 553 centres across six states. Vaccine was administered in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur and Tamil Nadu.

Manohar said that the officials reviewed the vaccination drive and listed out the issues that arose on the first day of the drive in different states.
