Chennai Super Kings already announced the list of players that they retained. CSK has decided to retain its core team of MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja. The team management has also given a contract to Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran, Narayan Jagadeeshan. Now, the latest addition to their team is Robin Uthappa who was playing with Rajasthan Royals.
“Robin is our newest Bat-Man! Welcoming you with #Yellove Vanakkam @robbieuthappa! #WhistlePodu” read a tweet from the official handle of Chennai Super Kings. Upon knowing the news, Robin revealed, “I am now excited for the next part of my cricketing journey joining CSK for IPL 2021.”
Piyush Chawla, Murali Vijay, Harbhajan Singh, Monu Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Murali Vijay, Harbhajan Singh, and Shane Watson were released by the team.
It was all cash deal transfer initiated by Chennai Super Kings with Rajasthan Royals to trade Robin Uthappa. However, the fans are not happy with this decision. Already, the team is carrying a negative image that it consists of all retired players. The 35-year-old Robin is not playing well in the IPL in the recent past. Certainly, he is not any value addition at this point in time but the management opted to take him in.
With this move, Chennai Super Kings have 6 slots open, including 1 overseas player.
